This page explains which cookies the doXmenu admin app (admin.doxmenu.com), where venue owners manage their menus, uses, and how you control them.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. The browser’s local storage works the same way for this purpose, so below “cookies” means both.
Two categories
The cookie bar in the app has two categories: Necessary, which is always on, and Analytics, which is switched on only after you allow it in the bar.
Necessary (always on)
These make the app work and remember your choice. They are not used for analytics or advertising.
- dx_consent (our cookie): stores your choice in the cookie bar. Domain .doxmenu.com, kept for 180 days.
- Sign-in and settings (the app’s local storage in your browser): keep you signed in and remember your language, theme and similar choices. They stay until you sign out or clear your browser data.
Analytics (only after you allow)
If you allow it, we use PostHog (PostHog Inc., EU Cloud, servers in Frankfurt, Germany) to see how the admin app is used and to improve it.
- What is recorded: usage events (screens opened, clicks, errors) and session recordings, which replay how you use the app. They are linked to your account ID, your role and your venue IDs, never to your name, email address or phone number.
- Text you type is recorded, except passwords and sign-in codes. Payment, billing, card and wallet screens are never recorded.
- IP addresses are not stored.
- Recordings also include the app’s technical console messages, and clicks are shown as heatmaps of each screen.
- ph_<key>_posthog (PostHog): a cookie on the app’s own address that holds a visitor ID and a session ID, kept for 365 days. PostHog keeps the same data in local storage, and a note when you withdraw (__ph_opt_in_out_<key>), so that analytics stay off.
- If you came from one of our ads, the ad’s campaign is kept with your new account, so we can count which ads bring sign-ups. Google’s click ID is kept and shared with Google Ads only if you allow analytics.
What we do not use
The admin app uses no marketing or advertising cookies. The restaurant menus that guests open use none of the analytics cookies described here.
Your choices
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time. Open “Cookie settings” in the app (in Profile, and on the sign-in screen) and the cookie bar appears again. When you withdraw, analytics stop at once. You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser settings; the bar then asks you again. If you block necessary storage in your browser, sign-in may not work.
